Michigan
Marco finished a close second in Sunday's Michigan shootout: A spectacular final duel with teammate Tony Kanaan followed a wild accident involving the two lead drivers - Dario Franchitti and Dan Wheldon. The accident took out three other drivers and left Marco Andretti leading the race, with Danica and Tony right alongside. All drivers emerged from the accident unscathed but only seven cars remained in the race. Tony led the final ten laps with Marco very close behind. "Tony's my wingman, you know... I was glad to see it came down to the two of us. My car was really good in the big pack but the NYSE car didn't have enough to pull it off on our own. But hey we had a lot of safe and lucky breaks! Someone was looking over us during the race. I had cars flipping over me but aside from that I was worried for Dario - I'm glad he's alright" said Marco to ESPN.

"How close are the cars from your vantage point in the cockpit", asked Jack Arew "It's closer than what you guys see! I just tried to hold him as much as possible. His car was good enough to hold the bottom without lifting. My fifth gear was a bit too tall..down the back stright his gear was optimum, so, Well done!"
The rain delayed race at the Michigan International Speedway started at 4.15pm. Marco's #26 car lacked speed and grip during the early stints (at one point he was lapping over 5mph slower than the leader) but yellow flags and smart pitstopping placed Marco 4th with more rain threatening to fall.

Marco then quickly pitted under yellow on lap 65 to have downforce work done on the rear of the car. He emerged at the back of the pack, but still on the lead lap when the race went green on lap 70. More yellow flag pit stops brought Marco back into contention.

Marco Andretti took an early tumble on the opening lap of the inaugural Honda 200 at Mid-Ohio presented by Westfield Insurance.

After connecting with the wheels of teammate Tony Kanaan the #26 car came to a dramatic halt upside down on the track. Marco was fine - though it meant an early retirement in a race he was hoping to win.

"We're all happy that Marco is going to be okay and that's the most important thing, but this is really disappointing. We felt like the NYSE car was capable of winning today. The car was getting quicker and quicker all weekend." - Andretti's race strategist Kyle MoyerAnother great photo (below) was sent to the Tifosi by Mark Thompson. He wrote "I know it's been a challenging season Marco, but make the best of what's left.  I'll be in Kentucky in a few weeks cheering on my AGR boys.  Good luck there & in Michigan!". Thanks Mark!

Marco finished in 5th place in the Firestone Indy 500 which took place on Sunday at the Nashville Superspeedway: Marco finished 0.85 seconds behind race winner Scott Dixon. AGR teammates Dario Franchitti finished second and Danica Patrick third (equalling her best ever result). The race was postponed from Saturday's planned evening race due to moisture on the track.

"These are the kinds of finishes the NYSE team needs the rest of the year. I think we had a better car than where we finished, but track position is everything here. Each time we came up behind somebody, it never seemed to go our way. If you want to keep somebody behind you at this track, you're certainly able to and that's what happened.

On the final re-start, with just five laps remaining, lapped cars proved to be a big hinderance to the competitive drivers: "We seemed to get caught up behind cars three laps down and they just kept blocking us and it was frustrating. We just have to make the NYSE car better in traffic next time. We’ll take the finish. It's not bad." said Marco.

Marco started eighth in the No. 26 NYSE car (203.392) It was Andretti's best qualifying result on an oval since the opener in March at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

A busy Friday at the Nashville Superspeedway included two practice sessions and an evening qualifying for Saturday's race. In session one, which concluded at noon, Marco posted the fifth fastest time with a top speed of 202.689. In session two he was fifth fastest again, with a slight time improvement.

Marco Andretti finished in 5th place at Watkins Glen with a fastest lap of 1:31:1738. He had the race lead several times during the race and with luck (and a caution flag) may well have put the #26 car in victory lane.

Marco had qualified in 6th place for last Sunday's race at Watkins Glen with a speed of 134.594, having gained speed throughout the practice sessions.
After the race Marco said: "Today was a good day for the NYSE team. We had to stretch our fuel on our second stint and were able to do that and still stay near the front. We've got another solid finish under our belt and we'll move on to Nashville."

Before last weekend's race at Watkins Glen: "It's a road course, so I'm having a smile on my face. I like road courses, grew up doing them. I like tracks where the drivers have to be more involved, where it's not just about car speed. I like places where you have to drive to get the car going. Eddie Jones, my engineer, sat down and found me a road-course car that fits my style."

On his recent run of bad luck: "One week it's a crash, the next week a gearbox breaks, the next week the car's balance is horrendous. I'm just keeping my head up knowing I'm competitive. If I was slow every weekend, then I'd start getting down."

RICHMOND RESULTS: Dario Franchitti wins again for AGR and Marco's final position is 12th, a lap down from the leading pack. After a difficult first session Marco made adjustments during a yellow flag pitstop and immediately made his fastest lap of the race on lap 74. But ultimately it proved difficult to move up through a fast field.

Marco made it clear how Friday's rain had effected his race chances at Richmond.
"It was frustrating. We had a pole car in the NYSE car yesterday and the rain just killed us. We worked our tails off and we found a car that was good enough to run up front, but we were stuck back in traffic. Track position is everything and we just couldn't catch one break in the race. It was just one of those weekends."Marco started 14th as points defined the starting grid. After a successful Friday practice, Marco Andretti looked towards qualifying for the SunTrust Indy Challenge with confidence. He started the day with the third quickest time in the practice sessions. Rain eventually prevented a qualifying run and the grid was set by the race points positions.

He finished an exciting race just 68 thousandths of a second off first place behind race winner Dario Franchitti, The 19th closest race in Indycar history. Marco qualified 12th at the Iowa Speedway
"It isn't exactly the time I was expecting. I thought there was a little more in the NYSE car but we missed a bit in the setup and had a little to much understeer. It's not a big deal, though. It would be nice to start toward the front because it's going to be tough to pass but I've got confidence that the crew will do a great job tomorrow and we'll be ready for the race."

June 17 - Indianapolis Motor Speedway: Marco was a visitor to the F1 paddock at the 2007 United States Grand Prix. Earlier this year Marco tested the Honda Racing F1 car in Jerez, Spain, so is very familiar with the Grand Prix cars.

On this year's Rookie sensation McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton, who won Saturday's F1 race, Marco said "He's doing so well because he got plenty of seat time. By the time of his first race, he was ready. He might win the championship as a rookie. It's awesome to watch."

June 13 - Lexington, Ohio: The IndyCar Series tested at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course prior to the inaugural IndyCar Series race July 22. Marco was third fastest over the day, recording a best lap at 119.951 mph. Marco back on the road!

"I think we have confidence in our speed and our balance," said Andretti, who's looking forward to upcoming road course races after a string of bad luck on ovals. "I'm pretty confident in my race car. We made the tires last and we were still fast. We only ran two sets of tires and were still third fast. Gallery

Texas Motor Speedway: Marco Andretti climbed out of the car on lap 140, retiring after falling three laps behind the leading cars - the #26 car unable to go above fourth gear. This will be Marco's 6th DNF in seven races. Marco finished the race in 19th place. Congratulations to Tony and Danica for their second and third place finishes. "Here we go again..." said Marco. Fastest lap of the race: Small consolation for Marco at Texas; he achieved the race's fastest lap on lap 65 when he topped 215.299 mph.

Marco started in twelfth and ran as high as fifth in the first half of the race. He was involved in a racing incident that saw Tomas Scheckter spin off the track and spend a lengthy time in pit line. Both cars were running in the top six at the time.

"
I have to apologize to Tomas (Scheckter). I thought he had enough room. It was obviously completely unintentional. " MARCO ANDRETTI

Milwaukee Mile: Marco's race ended in a DNF after hitting the wall on lap 210 at the ABC Supply / A.J.Foyt 225.

"
I'm incredibly disappointed for the NYSE team.  We had a decent race going today and I got into the marbles and just lost the car" Marco said. (What are marbles? Click here )

Apart from Marco's accident it was another good day for Andretti Green Racing as teammate Tony Kanaan won the ABC Supply/AJ Foyt 225 for the second consecutive year.

Marco Andretti had started 14th after fixing a gearbox problem when he first tried to qualify. He later was allowed one more green-flag lap at the ABC Supply / A.J.Foyt 225.

"I got anxious. I knew I was going to have a good shot at moving forward and I knew I was the only one in the field that had the tires. I got to antsy about taking advantage of it. I apologize to the NYSE team because we had a car that could have driven through".

Marco was involved in a dramatic racing accident on lap 164 of the 2007 Indianapolis 500 as teammate Dario Franchitti went on to win.

Marco and the #26 car took a huge tumble after touching wheels with another car on the straightaway. He walked away from the incident and waved to the fans, indicating that he was OK. Race Pics |

Marco told ABC viewers - "I'm one lucky guy. You know, it definitely was a big one. I missed the beginning - I had no idea of who I hit on the right hand side. My right mirror was broke and I was trying to fix it under yellow... I was upside down and praying to God. Like I said, I am one lucky guy. It felt slow because I was going so fast - it took a long time to slow the thing down. I'm so proud of Dario Franchitti. Dario made my day. I'm so happy. So proud of that guy."

Marco was in 2nd place in the Indianapolis 500, when a rainstorm severely delayed the race on lap 113. He led the race on three separate occasions and was well placed for a run for victory. The race ended minutes after Marco's accident due to a red flagged rainstorm.

He acheived an average speed of 223.299 mph. All five Andretti Green Racing cars will start in the top eleven on an exciting Pole Day at Indy.

"Based on our last week of practice, I think the NYSE car is going to be a very good race car. You always want more speed but I think we've got what we need to be a factor on race day. I learned a lot last year as a rookie and I know that it's possible to win from the ninth starting position because we came so close last year. "The x-rays were good, but I am a bit banged up. I will feel it in the morning." - MA

Marco Andretti was running well and on the lead lap until lap 137, when he ran high on turn four, lost grip, hit the outside, then the inside wall. The car was damaged and forced a retirement. Marco was taken for a shoulder x-ray as a precaution but was fine.

Position for the race - 16th. RACE REPORT

"We were struggling with both ends of the NYSE car today but I was still happy.  I was just trying to hang on to the finish and I just got into the marbles and the car just took off.  I had a huge understeer so I turned into it, got out of the throttle and then the front hooked and it overcorrected into the wall.  The inside retaining wall was the bigger hit for me.  I’m going to be sore in the morning but I’ll be alright." Marco Andretti finished last after his car had a mystery mechanical problem. He pulled into the pits on lap 42 after dropping back in the field from around lap 36. AGR retired the #26 car on lap 66.

"I've never been so scared in my life in an IndyCar," Andretti said at the time. "I'm sure there's something wrong with the NYSE car. It's nothing visual, so they're taking the car back. I really couldn't tell you what's wrong. It's incredible. It's a shame because the guys have worked so hard closing the gap".

Honda Racing F1's Gil De Ferran made a surprise visit to pit lane and told Autosport "Marco is one of the bright young stars. He has shown tremendous potential at an early age. The people he's racing against are very good. We would be remiss if we weren't looking at promising talent from around the world. "Marco is very mature and a very intelligent guy. He's very much in control of his world and his situation and that impressed me a lot. He's a tremendous talent in the car but his attitude and his head impressed me the most." READ ARTICLE

"We weren't particularly quick during the day but we didn't want to get ahead of ourselves and make crazy changes. Fortunately the NYSE car came back to us. This was the same setup we used during the test and we were definitely rolling the dice. We might as well have just rolled the car off the truck before qualifying because we didn't change much from the open test. "

Andretti fast again at Homestead testing - Thursday 22nd
"I think we might have found it. I don’t want to speak too soon, but the team’s work in the off-season so far it’s paid off. It’s only one day of testing. I hope we don’t come back for the race and it’s a totally different beast, which is known to happen.

"Today was the most important day here. We’re going to know where we stand for the year on the big ovals. We always know Andretti Green is going to be up front on the short ovals and road courses. Now, hopefully it’s across the board. That’s definitely good for the championship. We’re just going to work at it and be consistent."

"It's been awesome to have the chance to get back in a F1 car and I would really like to thank the Honda team for giving me this second opportunity.

I have really enjoyed my two days, and by the end of the second day with the wet conditions, I feel that I've really adapted to the way that the car has to be driven. So the weather was actually quite useful for me and I've now experienced a little bit of everything in only three days.

I was happy with my long run pace over the test but the one lap times are something that I am sure would come with further time in the car."

MARCO ANDRETTI

"I think that will be it -- there are no plans at the moment (for more tests). We've got to concentrate on our programme and he's got to concentrate on his North American programme It really is a matter of just taking it step by step. As he is only 19, we've got plenty of time to go."
